We welcome your interest in the Volunteer and Docent Programs at the Napa Valley Museum. These programs are essential to furthering the Museum's mission of service to the public.
Volunteer and docent positions are available for dependable, friendly, service-driven individuals, who share our passion for the art, history, and environment of the Napa Valley.

Volunteer Requirements:
Napa Valley Museum welcomes candidates of diverse backgrounds, ages and experiences. The following is required of all volunteers:
Volunteers are asked to assume two 4-hour shifts per month.
Volunteers are asked to become members of the Museum.
Volunteer Benefits:
As a volunteer, you are part of an institution that promotes the cultural and environmental heritage of the Napa Valley.
Volunteers are invited to exhibition preview receptions throughout the year.
Volunteers receive a 15% discount in the Museum Store.

DOCENT PROGRAM
The word "docent" derives from the Latin root docere, meaning to teach. Napa Valley Museum docents support the Education Department. They are clear communicators with a passion and commitment to educating the Valleys residents and visitors on the culture and environment of our region.
Docent Positions:
The Museum provides a diverse range of interesting and rewarding opportunities.
Docents may contribute in two ways:
Gallery Docents serve as tour guides for groups of adults, seniors or school
children visiting the Museum.
Trunk Docents travel to schools within the county presenting hands-on
programs featuring Napa Valley history.
Docent Requirements:
Gallery docents attend monthly meetings/training sessions.
Gallery docents guide an average of two groups a month.
Trunk docents are expected to become knowledgeable on their choice of trunk exhibit.
Trunk docents are asked to deliver 12 25 presentations during the school year (October May).
Trunk docents are expected to attend four educational meetings each year.
All docents are asked to become a member of the Museum.
Docent Benefits:
As a docent, you are part of an institution that promotes the cultural and environmental heritage of the Napa Valley.
Docents are invited on bus trips to visit other museums and special events.
Docents are invited to exhibition preview receptions throughout the year.
Docents receive 15% discount in the Museum Store.
